Fabio Müller joined C-Matrix two years ago following a career start in IT and completing a degree in communications. With this unique background he supports clients across IT, the public sector, financial and professional services as well as healthcare. In our “Three questions to” column, he discusses what he likes most about working at C-Matrix, how he made the career change into communication and his recipe for finding balance after a busy day at work.
You studied communication and have been at C-Matrix for two years. What inspires you every day in your work?
I appreciate the varied work , the opportunity to regularly develop and combine different approaches to address client’s needs. It’s impossible to get bored as I’m always learning something new. Also, I have a level of responsibility that would be difficult to achieve, at this stage of my career, in a large corporation. What’s particularly exciting is that I never know how a day will evolve.
You originally trained as a computer scientist. How did you find your way into communications?
I have always enjoyed writing and communicating, so it was an obvious choice to switch to communications. During my time in IT, I always liked to look after customers. In IT, customer communication was extremely important, especially when something didn’t work. I was able to take transfer this experience and skills to my current job. To this day, I have no regrets about the career change. In fact, I think it boosts my ability to provide a broad range of solutions – from digital communications through to traditional media platforms.
You spend most of your working hours in meetings or in front of a screen, often dealing with tight deadlines. How do you relax and find balance at the end of the working day?
After work, I regularly visit a fitness centre to switch off and move. In the colder months, I spend as much time as possible on the snowboard in the mountains. My other hobby is photography, which enables me to switch off and recharge my batteries.
