The approximately ten-kilometre-long St. Gallen West/East urban highway section forms part of the A1 highway and is a key component of eastern Switzerland’s infrastructure. After more than 30 years of operation, a comprehensive refurbishment is necessary.
C-Matrix has been supporting the Federal Roads Office FEDRO with project communications since 2022. The focus of the communication measures is on keeping the relevant target groups and the general public informed about the project on an ongoing and transparent basis.

Key Objectives
C-Matrix has been commissioned to support FEDRO with information and communication relating to this major infrastructure project. The main objective is to inform local residents, businesses and the media about the project measures. Communication should be consistent, regular and transparent.
Approach
C-Matrix developed an integrated package of measures. This includes, amongst other things:
- Planning and implementation of multimedia communication measures
- Editing of digital and analogue content
- Design and production of visual content such as graphics and videos
- Organisation and delivery of information events for local residents and businesses
Result
To date, the target groups have been kept continuously informed about the project through various channels. The low number of enquiries and complaints from members of the public shows that proactively providing information about upcoming project measures is having a positive effect. This has helped to facilitate the progress of the refurbishment work on the St. Gallen West/East urban highway. The St. Gallen West/East urban highway project is expected to run until 2028.
